Clear Water Bay on Koh Rong Sanloaem would have to make the list of Cambodia’s best beaches. With water you only see on postcards, epic scenery and few tourists, this is definitely a must-visit if you are staying at M’Phai Bay! But getting there can be a bit confusing, so here’s how to step by step.
Clear Water Bay is located at the North of Koh Rong Sanloem. From M’Phai Bay, it will take you about 1 hour and a half to walk there, but it is totally worth it. Half of it will be on the sand, and the other in the jungle. The second part can be a bit tricky, with rocks, a small up and down path, so we would recommend to wear something else than flip flops.
First, you need to walk all the way to the south extremity of the bay.
You will pass the pier and the Ecolodge, keep going. This is the last drink/food stop so if you need something get it there, there is nothing available at Clear Water Bay (the Driftwood hostel/bar looked like it had been closed for a while when we were there).
Once at the very end of the beach, there will be a little path. It is not very obvious but it will follow the shore very closely, as well as a bright blue pipe, so don’t get away from the sea too much.
Once you found the path, just follow it for the next 30 minutes. It will alway stay relatively close to the shore, and will keep going straight. There is no turn, no need to go up or down.
After about 30 minutes, the path suddenly stop as a big dirt road has been built. Follow this road for a few hundreds meters, until you see the path again on your left. Follow the path until you reach Clear Water Bay, about 10-15 minutes later.
There is no map on Google, but we have tried to give you an idea of how the path goes.

On the way back, collect some garbage and plastic the tide has brought to the shore!
